Contact me now to schedule a FREE 15-minute consultation over the phone. Having a talk with you about your situation will help give me an understanding of your needs and recovery goals. This time will also give you the opportunity to have your questioned answered and your concerns heard.
This 90-minute first session will give me the ability to develop a complete picture of your past history as well as your goals for the future. A thorough assessment will better equip us both to develop a treatment plan that will give you the best possible chance of success.
*Note: Sometimes at the end of an assessment, I will recommend additional services or a different form of counseling/treatment altogether in order to make sure you have access to the services that best fit your needs. It is important to understand that neither the assessment nor any additional recommendations I make commit you to anything. If I do make recommendations that are outside of what I offer in my practice, I will take the necessary steps together with you to facilitate a proper handoff to other service providers.
The standard individual counseling session is 50 minutes and we will meet weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Frequency is determined by a number of factors including your schedule, your goals and your needs as well as my clinical judgment. I will never force you to commit to a counseling schedule that doesn't suit your situation.
Family counseling sessions are conducted in either 50 minute or 90 minute increments depending on your needs. These sessions can be conducted with the primary client and their loved ones, or just loved ones (again, depending on the situation).
*Note: Below are the two most important things to know about my approach to family counseling:
1. I will never contact your family/loved ones without your prior consent and knowledge (except in cases of emergency).
2. I will not allow family counseling to become a situation in which the primary client is 'ganged up' on. My job is to create a safe environment in which meaningful change can be discussed; family counseling is a collaboration, NOT a punishment.
Case management refers to our continued collaborative efforts to make sure you have what you need to reach your recovery goals. This sometime includes conversations with physicians, other counselors/treatment facilities, attorneys, etc. As always, I will never contact someone on your behalf without written consent and prior notification.
Transition planning refers to a wide variety of activities related to our work together. Transition planning can include things like: enrollment in sober living or a treatment program like residential or outpatient treatment, help with housing or school enrollment, finding support groups in your area, etc. As a counselor who has worked in the recovery field for nearly a decade, I have knowledge of and relationships with a myriad of services and agencies that can provide you with any help you might need in addition to our work together in counseling.
*Note: Case management and transition planning are included in the cost of your counseling. Please be aware that in some situations we will need to use time in individual or family counseling to discuss matters of case management/transition planning.
